How would you feel if you discovered historic sources of African music, forgotten by the world for decades? And what would you do if you learned they were in danger of being lost forever?

The Tanzania Heritage Project is a cultural initiative dedicated to the preservation and celebration of Tanzania’s rich musical heritage. We contribute to the preservation, digitization, and restoration of priceless audio collections and endangered heritage in Tanzania. We also work with partners to support and promote modern-day cultural expression that contributes to keeping Tanzanian creativity and art vibrant and accessible.

In short, THP revives the audio-musical history of East Africa by providing a platform to amplify the sounds of the past and the voices of artists, communities, and cultures who want to keep their heritage alive.
